Under the contract, which runs through December 31, 2012, SCE will provide funding to deploy EfficiencySMART Persistent Commissioning products and services at commercial and institutional customer sites.
The offering combines advanced metering technology and software to provide insights into facilities’ energy use. EnerNOC analysts review the energy savings opportunities identified by the EfficiencySMART system, and make low- or no-cost recommendations to help reduce energy consumption, prioritize maintenance issues and enhance occupant comfort.
SCE said the customers will receive all necessary metering and monitoring equipment, as well as their first year of energy efficiency data analytics and reporting, at a significantly reduced cost. Participating sites can expect to find ten percent or more savings on the energy expenditures addressed, EnerNOC said.
“With our track record of successfully deploying data-driven energy efficiency programs, we’re seeing increased interest from utilities to leverage the power of our unique applications to meet their energy efficiency targets,” EnerNOC chairman and CEO Tim Healy said.
A report out this week from Zpryme found that SCE made the second-highest investment in demand-side management in the country in 2010, at $494 million. Fellow Californian utility Pacific Gas & Electric came in first, at $586 million.
SCE has installed over two million smart meters across southern California and intends to install nearly three million more. Last month the utility partnered with Teradata Corporation to collect customer usage data, using Itron’s Enterprise Edition Meter Data Management System.
The utility plans to integrate this with billing and weather data, Zpryme said, and plans to publish the information to customers later this year. SCE also partnered with Honeywell to automate its Critical Peak Pricing program, which offers commercial and industrial customers incentives to reduce power consumption during the hottest days of the year.
Research by efficiency system provider Groom Energy Solutions named EnerNOC as one of ten leaders in the enterprise energy and carbon accounting (EECA) market for 2011.
