  1. I wonder how they calculated the 3% GHG contribution. Seems to me whatever standard they used, left out a life-cycle analysis of GHG producing components, and instead focused on one. Lots of bluster here, just because you repeat the word sustainability over and over again does not invoke magic powers to make it so. What about water usage? What about the 20000 liters per kilo it takes? Meanwhile groundwater sources are rapidly depleting in the Great Plains basin.

  2. I suggest anyone concerned about this, no matter what ‘side’ they are on, read the book “Beyond Beef” by author Rifkin. Written in 1992, it is a wonderful account of the history of beef and how it controls our cultures world wide and how the industry has literally destroyed the environment and economies. Many facts that will astound you as to the impact one cow has on everything around us. And that was from almost 20 years ago. Can you even imagine how the numbers and impact have increased since? You will be glad you read this!

    In the LCA, will items as contaminated ground water from Fracking as a cattle water source and pesticides vs. organic feed be addressed?
