Equitable Origin on Monday announced the launch of a stakeholder-based sustainability certification for the oil and gas industry, the first of its kind, according to the company. The evaluation for certification, which covers the life cycle of production from contract negotiation to remediation, was developed by oil and gas companies, social and environmental NGOs, local communities, academics and government.

California coffee drinkers are steaming over the unavailability of Dunkin’ Donuts in the Golden State thanks to Proposition 65, TechNewsWorld reported. When trying to order online, customers receive notice that the national chain has suspended shipments to California while it works to meet state labeling requirements indicating that roasted coffee contains acrylamide, a potential carcinogen listed under the proposition.

An environmental group is seeking a court order under Proposition 65 that would require Disneyland to remove lead from fixtures and drinking fountains or post warnings at its California amusement park, The Los Angeles Times reported. The Mateel Environmental Justice Foundation alleges that the Sword in the Stone attraction, brass door knobs at Minnie’s House and stained-glass windows in Cinderella’s Castle contain lead.

The trial began on Monday in the United Kingdom’s largest ever investigation into alleged illegal exports of WEEE, Letsrecycle.com reported. The Environment Agency has accused seven companies and individuals, including Reliance Export Ltd, and BJ Electronics (UK) Ltd., of exporting 158 tonnes of waste to Nigeria.

The European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association announced the results of a study finding that roughly 10 percent of tires sold on the continent are not REACH-compliant, Tire Review reported. The association tested a sample of 94 tires between April and September in several of the European Union’s largest markets.

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc., on Monday announced the launch of IEC graded CAT IV, isolation optocouplers in surface-mount packages for high-voltage connections like solar and wind turbine installations. The company said the optocouplers are compliant to RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC and in accordance with WEEE 2002/96/EC.

Ingram Micro Inc., a large technology distributor and supply-chain services provider, announced on Tuesday that it was recognized in the Newsweek 2011 Green Rankings and that it has passed the ISO:14001 two-year surveillance milestone in North America without any major findings.
