A NextEra Energy Resources LLC wind farm in Oklahoma providing energy to Google is operational, according to McClatchy-Tribune Regional News.
The 100.8 MW Minco II Wind Energy Center (pictured) in Grady and Caddo counties, Okla., will help power Google’s data center near Pryor, Okla. Google Energy LLC and NextEra entered into the 20-year power purchase agreement in April.
South Carolina Electric & Gas and Boeing have completed a rooftop solar installation that they describe as the biggest in the south-east.
The 2.6 MW system in South Carolina is made up of more than 18,000 thin-film photovoltaic solar laminates that cover 10 acres on the roof of a 14-acre 787 final assembly building. Under the arrangement with Boeing, SCE&G will own and maintain the solar generation system and will supplement the solar-generated energy with power from other parts of its system.
SolarCity and Bank of America Merrill Lynch have agreed to terms on financing for SolarStrong – a five-year plan to build more than $1 billion in solar power projects for privatized U.S. military housing communities across the country. SolarStrong is ultimately expected to create up to 300 MW of solar generation capacity that could provide power to as many as 120,000 military housing units. It would be the largest residential solar photovoltaic project in American history.
