IBM India, Ingersoll Rand Team Up in Building Management

IBM’s Indian arm has entered into an agreement with industrial products firm Ingersoll Rand to provide energy-efficiency systems for a range of buildings.

In the agreement, IBM India will combine its intelligent building management system with Ingersoll’s energy saving products. The two sets of technologies will be able to communicate and provide users and building owners with energy performance data.

In similar news, CommScope Inc., is integrating Redwood Systems’ building-performance lighting into its Intelligent Building Infrastructure Solution platform.

Redwood runs its platform over a low-voltage networking infrastructure, and deploys a fine grain sensor network that measures temperature, occupancy and light levels – an approach that it believes is unique in the lighting industry.

Finally, Bunker Hill Community College has installed a Lucid Technologies “building dashboard” in the lobby of its LEED Gold-certified Health & Wellness Center.

Resembling a large flat-screen television, the dashboard identifies usage trends and periods of high consumption. It also provides a mechanism to compare the impact of conservation measures such as energy-efficient light bulbs and fixtures, classroom occupancy sensors, and variable-speed drives on heating and cooling equipment, the college says.

The public can access the dashboard at the college’s sustainability web site.
