Osram Opto Semiconductors has launched the new generation of its high-power Oslon SSL-LEDs, which feature improved performance and are about 25 percent more efficient that their predecessors, the company says.
The increased efficiency is the result of a combination of higher luminous flux and a reduced forward bias voltage of 3.1 V, Osram says.
The LED (pictured) provides a luminous flux of typically 98 lm in warm white (3,000 K), with an operating current of 350 mA at an application temperature of 85°C in the chip. The luminaires feature a typical luminous efficacy of 96 lm/W, which Osram says makes them among the most efficient 1 mm² chip LEDs on the market today.
Oslon SSL-LEDs are available in warm white and cold white.
In February, Cree introduced the XLamp XT-E White LED – a product that it says delivers twice the lumens per dollar of other LEDs and features the highest performance and efficacy in the industry. The XT-E LED more than doubles the lumens per watt of its predecessor XLamp XP-E LED family LEDs.
