Standards & Compliance Briefing: Counterfeit UL, ISO 50001, ISO 14001, UL2703

Solar mounting provider Applied Energy Technologies (AET) has achieved UL2703 compliance for its Rayport and T6 Flush Mount Roof Systems. To obtain the UL 2703 standard, AET’s products were tested with outdoor exposure simulations, electrical resistance testing, operational reviews, and module conductivity testing, AET said.

International chemical company Oxea announced that it is one of the first companies in its sector to become certified to ISO 50001, verified by KPMG Cert. The certification applies initially to the Oberhausen, Germany, site, but the other Oxea production sites in Europe can be certified during the next audit, the company said.

Verification and standards company SGS said that Taiwan Adventist Hospital in Taiwan has earned its ISO 50001, becoming the world’s first hospital to achieve the standard. The hospital focused on three energy-consuming items – the air conditioning system, lighting system and boiler system – aiming to reduce electricity consumption by more than 109,000 kWh, SGS said.

IT security company the Nettitude Group has become ISO 14001 certified for environmental management. The company has previously earned ISO 9001 and ISO 27001, writes Industry Today.

Semiconductor materials manufacturer Soitec has earned new ISO/TS, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications for its global quality, safety and environment management systems. All of Soitec’s operational sites worldwide now meet ISO quality and environmental requirements, the company said.

The Dawn Meats facility in Ballyhaunis, Ireland, has earned ISO 14001 certification. The facility reduced water use by over 10,000 cubic meters per year, added a heat recovery system to the refrigeration plant, and redesigned its packaging, Certification Europe said.

Underwriters’ Laboratories is notifying consumers and retailers that the Power Fist 50ft Work Light String known to be sold at Princess Auto bears a counterfeit UL mark for the U.S. and Canada. The manufacturer is Longkou Dongli Wire and Cable Co., Ltd. based in Longkou Shandong, China, UL said.

LED  and solar smart energy products maker Noribachi said that it has 250 new retrofit products certified on the Design Lights Consortium Qualified Product List (QPL). Noribachi’s product suite includes lighting, power systems, and engineering and design services, the company said.

Taiwan’s TSMC Solar said that it is now listed on the California Energy Commission’s (CEC) list of compliant PV modules after earning both UL and IEC certification for its TS CIGS series PV modules. The company also earned its ISO 9001 Certification.

Thin-film solar modules manufacturer Stion said that it has received both UL and IEC certifications to ship modules produced at its Hattiesburg, Miss., factory. Stion modules with nominal power of up to 140 watts are now available, with commercial shipments from the factory later this month.
