Standards & Compliance: NSF/ANSI Fabrics, Volvo 50001, Green Globe

Glen Raven Custom Fabrics says it is the first company to declare compliance under the NSF/ANSI 336 Sustainable Assessment for Commercial Furnishings Fabrics. Two of Glen Raven’s new Sunbrella contract fabrics have attained silver level compliance with the sustainability standard, adopted by the Association of Contract Textiles (ACT) in 2011, writes Specialty Fabrics Review.

Volvo Trucks’ New River Valley assembly plant in Dublin, Va., is the first U.S. facility to be certified to ISO 50001 in the U.S. under a DOE pilot program, as well as the first facility SEP-certified to use ISO 50001 under a new pilot accreditation. NRV was SEP-certified at a platinum level for improving energy performance by more than 15 percent over baseline in three years, Fleet Owner reports.

Swiss hospitality company Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has announced that all 21 of its European hotels have achieved Green Globe certification after supplying data on environmental, social and employer-related sustainable practices for more than 300 criteria. Mövenpick said that its average audit score was 90 percent. All European employees spent a total of 10,000 hours in training, and each property has a sustainability team.

The LED-lighting laboratory under the Taiwan government-backed Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) has won the Certification Body Testing Laboratory (CBTL) qualification from the IEC. The qualification makes the laboratory Taiwan’s first CBTL, which will save local manufacturers time and money on product verifications and getting to market, the China Economic News Service said.

Monocrystalline and polycrystalline silicon solar modules manufacturer Phono Solar has passed TÜV Rheinland’s ammonia corrosion test to earn IEC 62716 certification verifying the modules’ reliability on land near livestock. Phono Solar have already achieved salt mist corrosion certification IEC 61701 and fire test certificate, writes PV Tech.

Molex Incorporated announces that its Stac64-e connector for automotive applications has received third-party environmental claims validation (ECV) from UL Environment. The certification confirms that the Stac64-e connector – constructed of resin derived from renewable plant-based castor oil – contains 71 percent bio-based content in accordance with ASTM D6866-11, Molex said.

Haya Water in Oman has received ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation from the Dubai Accreditation Center (DAC) for its testing laboratory for water and wastewater. The ISO 17025 certificate is the standard applied to testing and calibration laboratories. Haya Water is part of a larger water reuse project in the city of Muskat, writes the Oman Daily Observer.
