Coca-Cola, Vodafone, Marks & Spencer Win Environmental Reporting Awards

Coca-Cola Enterprises has won the top honor in the CR Reporting Awards 2011, taking home the Best Report award for its corporate responsibility report titled “Committed to 2020: Shaping a Sustainable Future in Europe.”

The company was a runner-up last year in the awards, run by Corporate Register. This is Coca-Cola’s sixth annual corporate responsibility and sustainability report, and its first as a European business. Coca-Cola also won in the Best Carbon Disclosure category.

This year’s runners-up for Best Report are Vodafone Group and Marks and Spencer. IT giant Hewlett-Packard, awarded the No. 1 position in 2010, fell to seventh place this year.

Vodafone Group was also a runner-up in the Best Carbon Disclosure award, along with Royal Dutch Shell. La Trobe University won Best First Time Report, with Bloomberg and American Water Works Company as the runners-up.

Voters selected Marks and Spencer as the winner in the Openness and Honesty category. Microsoft and Natura Cosmeticos SA received runners-up honors.

This is the fifth year of the CR Reporting Awards, introduced in August 2007. All users of Corporate Register can vote in the awards, but they cannot vote for their own report.

Other winners:

•  Relevance and materiality: Marks and Spencer. Runners-up: L’Oreal SA, Coca-Cola.

•  Best integrated report: Novo Nordisk A/S. Runners-up: Hyundai Engineering, Vancouver City Savings Credit Union.

•  Best SME report: BeyondBusiness. Runners-up: Banarra, Guelph Hydro.

•  Creativity in communications: The Walt Disney Company. Runners-up: Microsoft Corporation, Hewlett-Packard.

•  Credibility through assurance: Co-Operative Group. Runners-up: Banco Bradesco SA, Royal Dutch Shell.

Last year’s Best Report honors went to Hewlett-Packard, Coca-Cola and Bayer AG.
