Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade group for U.S. airlines, and the U.K.-based Energy Institute (EI) have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperatively develop global aviation fuel-handling standards. The program will focus on how fuel at the airport is handled before it is loaded on an aircraft, A4A said.
Arcadia Biosciences announced that it has submitted a carbon credit methodology to the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The methodology would allow farmers to claim carbon credits from reduced fertilizer use in conjunction with the company’s nitrogen efficiency technology, Arcadia said.
TD Bank has recently achieved LEED certification for 15 of its newest retail locations along the east coast, from Florida to Maine. Of the new locations, 11 earned gold certification; three earned platinum, and one earned silver certification. TD Bank introduced its LEED store design in 2010, and has 21 stores and four corporate buildings that are certified.
The DOE is taking feedback on its voluntary Standard Work Specifications for Single-Family Energy Upgrades in an open-comment period ending April 13, 2012. Developed under DOE’s Guidelines for Home Energy Professionals project, the specifications outline minimum requirements for high-quality energy upgrades in single-family homes, DOE said.
Natural gas vehicle systems and conversions provider BAF has received CARB Executive Orders for its CNG-powered 2012 Ford F-Series 250/350 pickups and E-Series 250/350 vans, which extend its existing CARB certification to include the 2012 model year. BAF also has CARB EOs for the 2012 F-450/550/650 utility body, the F-53/59 commercial chassis, the E-450 shuttle, and the Ford Transit Connect, the company said.
DaniMer Scientific’s ReNew Flexible Film Resins have received a fresh water biodegradability certification from SSCCP, the Italian Pulp and Paper Research Institute in Milan. DaniMer’s ReNew Film Resins are applicable for disposable shopping bags, compostable bags, odor barrier packaging products and agricultural mulch film, DaniMer said.
Textile services organization TRSA announces its new Clean Green certification program. It recognizes companies that meet TRSA requirements for water and energy efficiency including reusing, reclaiming and recycling resources. The Clean Green certification gives the industry’s customers third-party verification that its reusable textiles are laundered in an environmentally friendly manner, TRSA said.
Online Tech is the first Michigan data center operator to earn Energy Star certification. Online Tech improved its energy performance with an energy management plan, and with cost-effective improvements to its Mid-Michigan data center, the company said.
Geothermal and water source heat pump manufacturer WaterFurnace International announces that WaterFurnace Envision and Synergy3D geothermal heat pumps have achieved the Energy Star Most Efficient 2012 designation. The pumps achieve nearly 500 percent efficiency with heating and energy efficiency ratios (EER) in cooling of 30 and 23.7, respectively, the company said.
Allianz Life Insurance of North America has earned Energy Star certification for the third year for its campus in Golden Valley, Minn. Allianz Life earned a score of 92 out of 100, up from 91 in 2010 and 78 in 2009, the company said.
NTS has begun certification testing services for ZigBee’s newly released Building Automation wireless mesh network standard for commercial buildings, and announces that Daintree Networks’ Lighting Controller has earned ZigBee certified status, the companies said.
North American Technician Excellence (NATE) announces that the Building Performance Institute is now accepting NATE certification as one of its eligibility options for accreditation of HVAC contractors. NATE is one of two independent certifications included in the eligibility criteria for HVAC contractors pursuing BPI accredited contractor status, the organization said.
