Environmental & Energy Executive Moves: Sustainability Consortium, ECOtality, Westpac, General Moly

Here’s the latest news on hirings and promotions among environmental and energy management leaders.

The Sustainability Consortium: The organization, which creates sustainability standards for consumer products, has named Kara Hartnett Hurst executive director, filing a vacancy left by Bonnie Nixon who stepped down in February after 10 months on the job. Hurst joins The Consortium from BSR where she was a vice president.

ECOtality: The electric transportation and storage company has announced that H. Ravi Brar will succeed Jonathan Read as the new president and chief executive officer of the company. Brar joined ECOtality in November 2010 as chief financial officer.

Westpac Group: The Australian banking corporation has appointed Shane O’Riordain as general manager, corporate affairs and sustainability. O’Riordain is the former group communications director at Royal Mail in the UK.

Eco Ventures Group: Mark Cox has been appointed president of the sustainable alternative energy producer and eco-friendly business group. Cox was managing partner and CEO of New Energy Fund.

Greensmith Energy Management Systems: The energy storage company has hired Ken Kim to serve as the company’s chief technology officer, and Patrick Bischoff to the post of chief strategy officer. From 2006 to 2012, Kim held senior management positions at Samsung. Bischoff has been an investor and board member of World Energy Solutions since its inception, and was also a co-founder and senior executive of Saba Software.

General Moly: The US-based molybdenum mineral development and mining company has appointed Patrick C. Rogers vice president of permitting and environmental compliance. Rogers joined General Moly in 2007, and has led the company’s permitting, land management, water rights, environmental programs and compliance for various projects.

Cliffs Natural Resources: The international mining and natural resources company has named P. Kelly Tompkins executive vice president, legal, government affairs and sustainability, as well as chief legal officer and president of Cliffs’ China operations. He joined Cliffs in 2010, having previously been executive vice president and chief financial officer for RPM International.

City of San Jose: Kerrie Romanow has been appointed director of environmental services of the California city. Romanow has been serving as acting director of the department since July 2011.
