Standards & Compliance Briefing: FTA Altoona, Energy Star, LEED

Proterra’s EcoRide BE35 battery-electric zero-emission commercial transit bus has become the first heavy-duty electric transit bus to pass the Federal Transit Administration’s Altoona bus testing. The testing process simulates 12 years of vehicle life and performance of transit buses. The EcoRide BE35 also tested at the highest fuel economy (22 mpg average) and lowest noise (57 dBA or 10 times lower) among full-size passenger buses, Proterra said.

Health benefits provider Highmark’s Center Street and Data Center buildings in Pennsylvania have earned EPA Energy Star certification for energy efficiency. The 612,000-square-foot Center Street building was renovated to LEED specifications and features energy-efficient HVAC systems and motion-detector lighting. The data center uses natural light, systems to manage power and water consumption and features an 80,000-gallon storm water collection tank for building cooling, the company said.
