Tork NA Paper Now 100% Recycled or Certified

SCA has announced that all of its Tork paper products in North America are now made from either 100 percent recycled fiber or from fresh fiber sourced from suppliers with “chain of custody” certification.

The company, which is the world’s third-largest paper business, is also committing to achieve Forest Stewardship Council or comparable certification on all Tork products made from fresh fiber in North America by 2014.
All of SCA’s Tork products made from 100 percent recycled content in North America have earned EcoLogo or Green Seal certifications, or both. Most are made in mills certified to ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
SCA is the largest owner of private forests in Europe. All its forests are certified under the FSC standard and SCA is the world’s largest supplier of FSC-certified forest industry products. Globally, since 2005, SCA has mandated that all the company’s fiber comes from only non-controversial sources, the company says.
In March, SCA announced a raft of sustainability targets including a goal of producing 5 TWh of windpower on its forest land by 2020. Other goals include tripling SCA’s production of biofuels by 2020.
The company did not state a baseline against which this increased production would be measured, but in 2010, SCA delivered 3.5 TWh of biofuel-generated power to Swedish municipalities, companies and households, according to the company’s latest sustainability report. The company has also pledged to exclude at least five percent of its productive forestry land from felling and to enact protections for a further five percent to preserve the necessary conditions for biodiversity.
