Alabama State Agencies Cut Energy Costs by $3.9 Million in 2012

AlabamaAlabama Gov. Robert Bentley says the state has saved nearly $4 million by cutting energy costs at state government agencies. The savings reported for 2012 came following a December 2011 Executive Order issued by the governor, requiring state facilities to reduce energy consumption by 30 percent from 2005 levels – by 2015.

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) analyzed energy data submitted by agencies and presented the data in a report. Agencies included in the first progress report achieved about a 10 percent reduction in energy use in 2012 for the total savings of $3.9 million.
