Tetra Tech, a consulting and construction management firm, has been awarded a $20 million contract, with an option for an additional $3.5 million, with the Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company to perform environmental management services and provide construction oversight as part of the Miami Harbor Construction Dredging Project. Tetra Tech’s scientists will oversee the transplantation of seagrasses, relocation of corals and monitoring of existing seagrass beds, coral reefs and sediment during dredging activities.
Southern Research Institute has entered into a contract with the Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America, under the Unconventional Resources Program, to develop and demonstrate the performance of technologies that will advance shale gas hydraulic fracturing water treatment, in order to produce National Pollution Discharge Elimination System-quality water.
Versar, a project management company, has received a five-year, $4.8 million contract from the EPA’s Office of Water to conduct scientific peer reviews of EPA documents, assessments and tools to ensure that major scientific products receive critical review prior to dissemination or use by the agency. This contract will help continue the 30 years of such service that Versar has provided for the EPA.
Calgon Carbon, which provides activated carbon and ultraviolet technology products, announced that its European operating group Chemviron Carbon has been awarded a 10-year contract by Thames Water, the largest provider of drinking water and wastewater services in the UK, to reactivate spent activated carbon used to treat drinking water. The value of the contract depends upon the amount of carbon that is reactivated annually, which is expected to be about 11 million pounds or 5,000 metric tons.
ADB International, a licensee and distributor of advanced water treatment systems manufactured by Treatec21 Industries, announced that Treatec21 and Shunde Dowell Technological and Environmental Engineering signed an agreement to utilize Treatec21’s proprietary industrial wastewater purification technology in Guangdong, China.
