Environmental Executive Moves: Joule, Climate Trust, Applied Materials, EBI

Joule UnlimitedHere’s the latest news on hirings, promotions and departures among environmental leaders.

Joule: The developer of CO2-to-fuels solar conversion technology announced changes in its executive leadership. CEO William J. Sims will step down after four years but will remain a member of the company’s board. Noubar Afeyan, co-founder and chairman, is assuming the role of interim CEO while Paul Snaith, who joined the company in 2012 and later became the chief business officer, will be promoted to president and COO. Snaith previously spent 24 years at Shell in multiple roles, including vice president of downstream marketing for Shell Global Solutions and managing director of Shell Research.

The Climate Trust: The carbon financing nonprofit has appointed Sean Penrith as executive director. Penrith previously served as Earth Advantage Institute’s executive director. He has been on the board of Climate Trust since 2008.

Applied Materials: The equipment and software provider for the advanced semiconductor industry says Gary E. Dickerson will take on the role of president and CEO and Michael R. Splinter will be executive chairman of the board of directors, beginning in September. Dickerson is currently president of Applied Materials; Splinter is CEO and will step down at the end of this month.

EBI Consulting: The environmental, engineering and due diligence consulting services company has appointed David Scaletta as senior program director for the life sciences industry.  Scaletta was previously the environment, health and safety manager at Vertex Pharmaceuticals.

Rockhill Insurance Group: The subsidiary of State Auto Group has hired Ursula Knowles as vice president to lead the Pearl River, NY branch and eastern region of its environmental liability division. Knowles was previously the client executive officer with the environmental insurance unit of Travelers.

International Code Council Board: The ICC board of directors has appointed Dominic Sims CEO. Sims was previously interim CEO and COO of the ICC.
