Contract Wins: SAIC, Waste Control Specialists, CH2M Hill, Swansea, Wartsila

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) was awarded a contract by the US Army Corps of Engineers Baltimore district to provide architectural and engineering services for hazardous, toxic and radioactive waste and military munitions projects managed by the Baltimore district. The multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a five-year period of performance and a contract value of approximately $125 million.

The Department of Energy awarded a task order in support of the Los Alamos National Laboratory Legacy Waste Project to Waste Control Specialists of Andrews, Texas under the environmental management waste disposal master contract. The award is a firm, fixed-price task order, based on pre-established rates with a $1.29 million value and has a one-year performance period.

Wärtsilä, a marine industry services provider, has been awarded a contract to supply the design and an integrated solution for a new large platform supply vessel. The ship will operate primarily on liquefied natural gas and is owned by Siem Offshore, the Norway-based provider of marine services to the oil and gas industry. It will be operated under charter by A/S Norske Shell. The vessel is being built at the Remontowa Shipbuilding’s yard in Poland.

Swansea Drydocks won a recycling contract to recycle the former HMS Cornwall, a Type 22 frigate of the British Royal Navy. HMS Cornwall is currently berthed at Her Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth and is anticipated to be towed to Swansea Drydocks during the fall.

CH2M Hill has been awarded a contract by the city of San Diego Public Utilities Department to provide optimization consulting services to streamline the city’s water and wastewater operations.  CH2M Hill will conduct an operational optimization study to review and evaluate San Diego’s water and wastewater facilities and operations to determine if improvements can be made in the areas of energy utilization, water production and distribution, chemical usage, data utilization, wastewater sludge processing and disposal, operator staffing, and warehouse practices and procedures.

Abtech Holdings, an environmental technologies and engineering firm, has inked an agreement with DieselPure to incorporate AbTech’s Smart Sponge technology into all of DieselPure’s filtration systems. DieselPure has a sub-micron coalescing filter technology that removes free and emulsified water and other contaminants from ultra-low sulfur diesel and bio-diesel blends in order to prevent engine failure.

Casella Waste Systems was awarded a 10-year waste and recycling collection contract, including other solid waste and recycling management services, by the city of Concord, New Hampshire. The company expects to internalize more than 30,000 tons of municipal solid waste and recyclables through the residential contract, and commercial waste through the city’s solid waste and recycling ordinance.
