Sustainable Supply Chain Winners Announced

IHS, Patagonia and Ryder are among the companies that have made sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy, according to Supply & Demand Chain Executive.

The magazine has announced its 2013 Green Supply Chain award winners recognized for their achievements in sourcing/procurement, fulfillment/logistics, operations, product lifecycle management and other areas. Supply & Demand Chain Executive received almost 100 entries for the 2013 sustainable supply chain awards.

The winners are: Basware, Cass Information Systems, CaseStack, DiCentral, DSC Logistics, EZCom Software, Inmar, ModusLink, NeoGrid, Nipendo, Penske Truck Leasing, Saddle Creek Logistics Services, SciQuest, SYSPRO, Transplace, Transportation Insight, Tyco Retail Solutions, UniCarriers Americas, Wolper Information Services, Accellos, AFN, ArrowStream, Cadec Global, CHEP Pallecon Solutions (formerly CAPS), Coyote Logistics, DHL Express, Elemica, enVista, Genco, Half Price Books, IHS, Ingram Micro Mobility, Insight, International Asset Systems (IAS), Log-Net, Maersk Line, Murphy Warehouse, National Grid, Omnify Software, OnTrac, Outdoor Industry Association Sustainability Working Group, Paragon Software Systems, Patagonia, Pitt Ohio, Prorizon, Ryder, Source One Management Services, Spinnaker, Squadron Medical, W&H Systems and YRC Freight.

Green Supply Chain winner Patagonia last week said it will use 100 percent traceable down across its entire collection of down-insulated products starting in the Fall 2014 season.

Last month, the Global Environmental Management Initiative (GEMI) announced it is developing a supply chain tool. The free, interactive online tool is intended to help companies prioritize supply chain processes and identify “hotspot” processes as well as opportunities for improvement, according to the green business alliance whose members include ConocoPhillips, FedEx, Kraft Foods, Procter & Gamble and Southern Company, among others.
