Desalitech and Toyo Bring Water Treatment Asian Markets

Desalitech and Japan-based Toyo Engineering Corporation have formed a strategic partnership to introduce environmentally responsible and economical water and wastewater treatment systems to Japanese, East Asian and international markets.

The partnership agreement was signed in Tokyo as part of Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick’s Massachusetts – Asia Innovation Partnership Mission.

The collaboration will bring closed circuit desalination (CCD) reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment technologies to East Asian and other international markets to increase water recovery, improve energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact and reduce disposal costs, the companies say.

Desalitech’s patented CCD systems achieve recovery rates of 93 percent or greater, compared to 75 percent recovery or less with most conventional RO systems, the firm says. Higher recovery produces less waste, resulting in lower disposal costs.

The company says its CCD systems also require less energy than conventional RO water treatment systems, reducing carbon footprint.

Desalitech made the most recent Global Cleantech 100 list and report published last month.
