Standards & Compliance Briefing: Health Care Ventilation, ISO 14001, LEED

ASHRAE has published a revised version of ANSI/ASHRAE/ASHE Standard 170-2013, Ventilation of Health Care Facilities. The revised standard now specifically addresses provisions for energy recovery, and features updates, changes and clarifications dealing with humidity, ducted returns, recirculating rooms units and duct lining.

Shorenstein Properties’ Lincoln Center, a Class A seven-building office campus in Portland, Ore., has been certified LEED Silver for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance. The campus’s pest control management plan greatly reduces the use of chemicals, and the buildings employ LED lighting, motion sensors and a satellite-based irrigation system, the company says.

Granite Construction has earned ISO 14001 environmental management and ISO 9001 quality management certifications for its project management and construction activities on designated projects in its Large Project Group. NSF International Strategic Registrations issued the certificates after auditing Granite’s management system at the corporate and project level.

Horsehead Corp., a US producer of zinc and zinc-based products and a recycler of electric arc furnace dust, has achieved ISO 14001 environmental management certification at each of its four EAF dust recycling facilities.

Clenergy, a provider of solar PV mounting products for commercial, residential and utility-scale customers, has received ISO 14001 environmental management certification.

UL’s drinking water analytical laboratory for second-round testing has been certified in accordance with the EPA’s Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment (LT2 Rule). UL can now accept samples from public drinking water systems of treated surface water or ground water that is under the influence of surface water.

Aqualiner Limited’s new water pipe lining product Rembrandt has received NSF/ANSI Standard 61 certification, Trenchless Technology reports. The certification means the Rembrandt product meets standards for products used in US drinking water system components.
