FLEXCon Expands Labeling Line

FflexconLEXCon has expanded its product labeling line to help customers comply with the new standards of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of chemical classification and labeling.

GHS requires that by the end of 2014, US manufacturers include product identifiers, hazard statements, signal words and supplier identification on all primary and secondary container labels.

FLEXCon said it’s offering a polypropylene product that allows refineries and chemical plants to print their information via thermal transfer, a digital printing process by which material is applied to paper by melting a coating of ribbon. Polypropylene is favored by many chemical companies, FLEXCon said, since it’s unusually resistant to many chemical solvents, bases and acids.

FLEXCon’s new product utilizes a permanent adhesive-backed with a post-consumer waste liner, the company said.

Chemical manufacturers are finding it easier and more cost-effective to print GHS labels in-house as part of their packaging process, according to FLEXCon.
