Asahi Kasei is deploying ETAP Real-Time software for a wide range of power management operations in one of its Japanese chemical facilities.
Asahi Kasei’s facility is powered by hydroelectric and thermal power plants; it utilizes both AC and DC power; and it operates separate 50Hz and 60Hz grids connected by frequency changers.
In the short term, ETAP Real-Time will be used for power optimization and visualization; simulating maintenance operations; incident playback and analysis; and optimizing balance between loss minimization and power system stability. Future applications will include real-time energy management and intelligent load shedding.
In 2013, ETAP announced it was building an onsite microgrid at its own corporate campus in Irvine, Calif.
