HSBC Appoints Head of Climate Change Center

HSBC has appointed Zoe Knight as the new head of its Climate Change Centre of Excellence.

Knight, the UK-headquartered bank’s former climate change strategist, will replace Nick Robins, who left the post earlier this year to lead a United Nations Environment Programme inquiry into developing a more environmentally sustainable global financial system, reported Reuters.

The Climate Change Centre of Excellence, which was founded in 2007, evaluates the implications of climate change for the HSBC Group, its global research division and other business units. The center’s aim is to better understand the scientific, regulatory and economic components of climate change.

HSBC is part of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC), a group that in September 2013 released its Integrated Reporting (IR) Framework, intended to accelerate the adoption of integrated reporting worldwide. The IR framework combines sustainability and financial data to provide a holistic view of the company and its ability to sustain value over the short, medium and long term.
