The European Chemicals Agency has released a new version of the Dossier Quality Assistant to help registrants find potential inconsistencies in their datasets and dossiers before submitting REACH registrations. The DQA has been updated with further checks on topics such as substance identification, use description and the link between composition and classification. The DQA is included in the IUCLID Technical Completeness Check plug-in – now renamed the Validation Assistant plug-in.

The EMP Administrative Office Building for the EMP Museum (formerly known as the Experience Music Project) in Seattle, Washington, received LEED Platinum certification. Developed by Vulcan, Inc. and owned by Cedar Strands Properties, the 51,200 sq ft, five-level structure is also the first Salmon-Safe certified urban in-fill project to date and the first Salmon-Safe certified office building in Seattle. A rain water collection system has resulted in 75 percent less water use than code-compliant fixtures, and FSC-certified material was used for 23 percent of the project’s wood, according to contractor Howard S. Wright, a Balfour Beatty company.

IEC has issued a pre-release of the official electrical vehicle conductive charging standard IEC 62196-1 ed3.0, Plugs, Socket-Outlets, Vehicle Connectors and Vehicle Inlets – Part 1: General requirements. The voting period runs until May 9.
The IEC has released IEC 60721-2-9 ed1.0, Classification of Environmental Conditions. Parts 2 to 9 are intended to define the strategy for arriving at an environmental description from measured data when related to a product’s life cycle. The standard aims to define fundamental properties and quantities for characterization of storage, transportation and in-use shock and vibration data as background material for the severities to which products are liable to be exposed during those phases of their lifecycle.
