Clean-Frac is based on OriginOil’s P1000 platform, which is designed to process 1,000 barrels per day of frac flowback and produced water.

The company’s first demonstration scale unit, Clean-Frac 1000, is in Colorado and Bill Charneski, general manager of OriginOil’s Petro Division, says the company will demonstrate its water treatment capabilities on May 27. It will be available to OriginOil’s licensees and in the future through its planned acquisitions, he adds.

OriginOil licensee Pearl H20 has also scheduled the installation of a commercial-scale three-quarter barrel per minute system in California’s Monterey Formation. Branded as Pearl Blue, the system incorporates OriginOil’s EWS Petro process at the first stage, to help treat frac flowback water for immediate reuse.

Earlier this week General Electric announced that a crude oil production site in Italy will use GE’s advanced evaporator and zero liquid discharge (ZLD) technology to recycle up to 98 percent of produced water.

Total E&P Italia has six wells in the Tempa Rossa oil field in Corleto Perticara. GE will provide the technology to engineering, procurement and construction contractor Maire Tecnimont, which is overseeing the development of the project for Total E&P Italia.
