Catalytic Converter Recycling Plant Coming to Virginia

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe announced that Global Refining Group, a sister company to ABC Recycling, will spend $4.2 million to build a catalytic convertor recycling plant near its Kenbridge headquarters in Lunenburg County, Virginia. ABC Company recycles vehicles, scrap metals and catalytic converters, according to Recycling Today.

McAuliffe said he believes Global Refining Group will become the premier East Coast location for catalytic converter recycling.

Lunenburg County offered Global Refining Group an industrial building that had been recently retrofitted in order to enable the new plant to become operational in a shorter timeframe, according to Maurice Jones, Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade.

In addition, McAuliffe approved a $100,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to assist Lunenburg County with the project. The Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission also approved $145,000 in Tobacco Region Opportunity Funds for the project.

The new facility will produce 30 new jobs for the region.
