M&S Uses ISO 26000 for Supply Chain Management

Nine of Marks & Spencer’s biggest clothing suppliers in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will integrate social and environmental sustainability into their business strategy with the ISO 26000 Standard for Social Responsibility of Organizations.

CSR Company, a corporate social responsibility consultancy, will support the retailer in implementing this sustainable supply chain initiative, which will include gap analysis, action plans and verification for the participating companies. It’s part of M&S’ Sustainability Management Framework (SMF) Project, which falls under the umbrella of the retailer’s Plan A sustainability program.

The SMF Project based on ISO 26000 is the first of its kind worldwide, according to the CSR Company, which will take the lead in the SMF Project. The project will be completed by June 2015.
