3E Company: The provider of environmental health and safety compliance and information management services has appointed Uday Virkud president and CEO. Virkud previously served as executive vice president of AIR Worldwide.

Sustainable Shipping Initiative: The coalition of shipping companies committed to sustainable practices has appointed Alastair Fischbacher as its new director.  Fischbacher previously served as general manager, fleet management, for Rio Tinto and also represented Rio Tinto on SSI’s Board of Trustees.

New England Water Environment Association: The not-for-profit organization of New England water quality professionals has appointed Mary Barry (pictured) as its new executive director. Barry previously served in the environmental engineering industry as strategic market programs director at major engineering companies in the New England area.

Advanced Disposal: The integrated environmental services company has appointed Michael K. Slattery senior vice president and general counsel. Prior to joining Advanced Disposal, Slattery served as senior vice president and general counsel for Veolia Environmental Services North America.

ASHRAE: The global sustainable technology society has installed new officers and directors for 2014-15. The new president is Thomas H. Phoenix, principal and vice president, Moser Mayer Phoenix Associates. Other officers installed for a one-year term include T. David Underwood, ASHRAE-certified commissioning process management professional, president-elect; Timothy G. Wentz, associate professor, University of Nebraska, treasurer; Darryl K. Boyce, assistant vice president, Carleton University, vice-president; Charles “Chuck” E. Gulledge III, senior mechanical engineer, AC Corporation, vice president; Bjarne W. Olesen, professor, Technical University of Denmark, vice president; and James K. Vallort, senior vice president, Environmental Systems Design, vice president.

Directors installed to serve a three-year term from 2014-2017 include Larry J. Fisher, founder, ECT Services, region vii director and region chair; William K. Klock, vice president, EEA Consulting Engineers, region viii director and regional chair; Blake E. Ellis, principal, Burns & McDonnell, region ix director and regional chair; Karine Leblanc, sales engineer, U.S. Air Conditioning Distributors, region x director and regional chair; Farooq Mehboob, owner, Mehboob and Co. Consulting Engineers, region-at-large; Mark W. Fly, director of engineering and government affairs, AAON, director-at-large; Daniel Int-Hout III, chief engineer, Krueger, director-at large; and Mick Schwedler, manager, applications engineering, Trane, director-at-large.
