Green Fleet Roundup: VW, Navistar, SpiceJet, Zenith, Avolon, Boeing

Volkswagen of America has announced providers of charging services for its e-Golf models. Bosch Automotive Service Solutions will be the charging station (pictured) and installation services partner for the e-Golf and ChargePoint will provide VW branded stations to all e-Golf dealerships and access to the largest network of public EV charging stations.

Navistar has started customer shipments of its first International DuraStar and International WorkStar vehicles with the company’s 9- and 10-liter engines with Selective Catalytic Reduction emissions technology. The company’s internal testing shows these products are delivering up to 8 percent in fuel economy improvement over the previous generation.

SpiceJet Airlines has selected GE’s Flight Efficiency Services to support its fleet of 52 Boeing 737 and Bombardier Q400 aircraft. GE will provide flight data analytics and fuel management to optimize the airline’s operational efficiency with the goal of substantially reducing fuel expenses for the airline.

Zenith Motors has received an EPA certificate of conformity for its all-electric commercial van. A certificate of conformity is issued by the EPA to a vehicle manufacturer and certifies that a vehicle class conforms to EPA requirements. This allows Zenith to begin selling its all-electric van to customers in the US.

Avolon and Boeing have announced Avolon’s commitment to purchase six 787-9 Dreamliners. Avolon also reconfirmed its order for five 737 MAX 9 aircraft, bringing Avolon’s total order commitment for 737 MAX aircraft to 20.

Sun Country Highway has expanded its offering of sustainability-oriented products to include the EV40 Electric Vehicle Charger. The new EV40 is compatible with all plug-in vehicles available today and works with smaller EVs like the Leaf, and also with larger vehicles like the RAV4EV, the Tesla Model S and electric fleet trucks.

Clean Energy Fuels has announced plans to double the CNG station capacity at Saddle Creek Transportation’s natural gas station in Lakeland, Fla., where an additional 25 heavy-duty natural gas trucks will fuel. Additional fueling agreements have resulted in the construction of new natural gas stations to support Clean Energy’s growing number of natural gas fuel customers.
