Tetra Pak Nabs Worldwide FSC Chain of Command Certification

tetra pak forestTetra Pak has received Forest Stewardship Council Chain of Custody certification for all of its converting plants and market companies, covering a total of 92 facilities worldwide, the company says. It represents one of FSC’s largest multi-site certifications. Tetra Pak says the company is working to ensure that 100% of the paperboard they use is certified.

The Chain of Custody certification allows wood fibers to be traced at every step through the supply chain, providing assurance that any products bearing the FSC logo support forest management that adopts environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management practices.

Last October, Tetra Pak launched what it said was the industry’s first carton made entirely from plant based, renewable packaging materials. The new Tetra Rex carton was said to be the first in the market to have bio-based low-density polyethylene (LDPE) films and bio-based high-density polyethylene (HDPE) caps, both derived from sugar cane, in addition to Forest Stewardship Council-certified paperboard.
