Utilities Join Xeros Water, Energy Incentive Program

Xeros laundry machineXeros, which makes an ultra-low water laundry system, says utility companies Columbia Gas of Massachusetts, Connecticut Natural Gas, Pacific Gas and Electricity Company, Questar Gas, Southwest Gas and Xcel Energy are offering incentives for customers to use the polymer bead cleaning system.

Xeros says its polymer bead cleaning machines are proven to reduce natural gas usage up to 100 percent and water usage by up to 80 percent.

These companies join a growing list of US utilities including Columbia Gas of Massachusetts, National Grid and Liberty Utilities already offering incentives to customers that have committed to reducing energy and water consumption through the use of the Xeros polymer bead cleaning system.

Utility company customers include hotels, commercial and industrial laundries, dry cleaners, and fitness centers. The first incentive payment by a US utility company was to Sterling Linen Services in April 2014, where the Xeros polymer bead cleaning system delivered a 98 percent reduction in natural gas usage and 76 percent reduction in water usage.

Since the incentive programs were first launched in early 2014, eight utility companies are now offering them to their customers and have offered, in total, more than $275,000 in incentives for polymer bead technology.

  1. When I first read this article I was like, “Why don’t we have this for Canada?” But looking deeper, understanding the simple decision of switching a high energy appliance for a energy efficient one (which includes an incentive) is exactly where all organizations should be focusing. Not particularly on appliances, but every form of old process, into a more efficient process, saving money and even environmental benefits. I think its time all organizations finally have a robust audit to identify their possible savings and benefits.
