Office Building Cuts Waste, Energy Use, Wins Multiple Environmental Awards

The 2015 Downtown Fort Worth Trailblazer Award for Sustainability was given to Burnett Plaza and owner Tier Reit for work improving the 31-year-old building’s efficiency to a LEED Silver Certification. Equipment and lighting retrofits resulted in a 20 percent reduction in energy consumption, an in-house recycling effort has diverted more than 147 tons of waste, and its water conservation plan won the City of Fort Worth’s Smart Water Conservation Award in 2013. In 2014, Burnett Plaza won the prestigious International Office Building of the Year award.
