8 DC Buildings Use BuildingIQ Energy Management

BuildingIQ energy manageBuildingIQ has been selected by the District of Columbia Department of General Services (DGS) to deploy its cloud-based technology within eight of the District’s public buildings.

BuildingIQ’s Predictive Energy Optimization platform will automatically create a custom thermal model for each building and predict energy consumption, cost and comfort based on building characteristics, weather forecasts, energy pricing and signals from the utility. The software will make real-time changes to each building, directly adjusting heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system parameters, that can reduce heating and cooling costs by as much as 25 percent. The automated, cloud-based system requires no manual interaction. BuildingIQ’s platform will also enable demand response in more than 3,200,000 square feet of space

The affected District buildings include healthcare, education and office facilities as follows:

  • One Judiciary Square
  • Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital
  • 200 I Street Municipal Building
  • Waterfront Municipal Center East
  • Waterfront Municipal Center West
  • John A. Wilson Building
  • H.D. Woodson Senior High School
  • Frank W. Ballou High School

BuildingIQ will work with DGS, New City Energy and the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab to deliver annual savings of $600,000 and generate more than $1,000,000 in free cash flow over the term of the partnership. As a DOE program participant, DGS will also receive numerous cost share benefits
