Environmental Executive Moves: UPS, Novelis, Cabrios, Harris Waste Management

Steve FisherHere’s the latest news on hirings, promotions and departures among environmental leaders.

UPS: The logistics and transportation company has appointed Edward Rogers global director of sustainability. Rogers joined UPS in 1994.

Novelis: The world’s largest aluminum recycler has appointed Steve Fisher (pictured) interim president, following the departure of Philip Martens, former president and CEO. The search for a permanent chief executive is under way. Fisher has served as the company’s senior vice president and chief financial officer since 2007, and he will continue to serve in that capacity.

Harris Waste Management: The manufacturer of ferrous and non-ferrous processing equipment has hired Glenn Godwin as director of quality and safety. Previously Godwin was operational excellence manager at an Imerys mining and processing facility.

Cabrios: The biochemistry company has appointed Alain Marty chief science officer. Marty, a professor, has been working with Carbios since the launch of the Thanaplast project within the framework of Carbios’ partnership with the INRA/TWB (French National Institute for Agricultural Research and Toulouse White Biotechnology).

SGS Product Sustainability Services: The inspection, verification, testing and certification company has accredited two more ecodesign consultants, Caroline Girot and Michael Richardson, as product environmental profile (PEP) verifiers.

ABS: The provider of classification services to the global marine and offshore industries has appointed Howard Fireman senior vice president and chief technology officer. Fireman joined ABS in 2013.
