Starbucks Moves Bottled Water Production out of California

StarbucksStarbucks has announced it will stop sourcing and manufacturing its Ethos Water in California due to the drought.

The company says starting this month and over the next six months, it will move production to its Pennsylvania supplier, while also exploring alternatives to transition to a new source and supplier to serve the company’s West Coast distribution.

Starbucks says it’s actively working to conserve water in California and has decreased its in-state usage by 26 percent.

Starbucks’ move comes as activists are petitioning the California Water Resources Control Board to shut down Nestlé’s water bottling operations in the state.

  1. Why are these companies still allowed to con the public with bottled water at all, when we are fortunate to live in countries with perfectly acceptable potable water… and when California is in drought?? And a 26% decrease in in-state water useage – not that significant when you’re starting from such a low base – this is the company that once had a constantly running tap in every shop, so staff didn’t waste time turning it on and off all day long… is this really worthy of positive comment?
