Tomra Sorting Solutions, which manufacturers sensor-based sorting systems, has further expanded its international presence by creating a subsidiary company in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and establishing a Moscow office.
Tom Eng, vice-president and head of Torma Sorting Recycling, says while the market for sensor-based sorting of recyclable materials in the CIS is young, the company’s technologies will allow customers to implement all-in-one-bin daily waste collection, thus reclaiming valuable materials out of mixed municipal solid waste.
The new subsidiary will be managed by Jörg Rathmann, Torma’s managing director in the CIS.
The company says its automated systems for various waste and metal material streams increase recycling rates and deliver commercial, legislative and environmental benefits. The sensor-based sorting systems recover clean material fractions, delivering significantly higher yields and increased value from input material than traditional separation methods, such as dense media separation or manual sorting.
