Florida Supreme Court: PACE Foe Has No Standing

fl-pace-logoProperty Assisted Clean Energy (PACE) program proponents in Florida got good news yesterday when the Florida Supreme Court rejected a challenge by the Florida Bankers Association. The association argued that PACE-based loans would be repaid before mortgages and therefore should be stopped, according to the Sun-Sentinel. The Supreme Court did not directly rule on that issue. Instead, it found that the association had no standing to bring the suit.

The story says that the decision removes a hurdle to the approval of PACE financing. That financing already is available in some areas of Miami-Dade County. Broward has been moving more slowly, however.

An ongoing PACE project in Florida is in West Palm Beach. Home Appliance and electronics retailer BrandSmart is working through the Florida Green Energy Works Program to perform a $2.225 million energy-efficient retrofit to its outlet.
