Porsche Details Energy Initiatives

porschePorsche said last week that its sustainability program is continuing and provided a rundown of the status of company facilities.

Porsche has installed four renewable energy systems at its training center in Zuffenhausen, Germany which consume 30 percent less energy than requirements of Germany’s EnEV Energy Saving Ordinance; the new Porsche Centre Adlershof in Berlin has erected a 25-meter high photovoltaic pylon that will generate as much as 14,000 KW of power annually. The Leipzig factory has installed a rainwater cistern and recycling system to reduce water demands

The company says that TÜV Süd has certified that the Zuffernhausen, Sachsenheim and Weissach facilities complie with ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and the European Union EMAS ecological audit.

Practical Motoring reported last week that Porsche Cars Australia pledged last week to buy GreenPower-accredited renewable energy on behalf of buyers of Cayenne S E-Hybrids. The company said that the move will offset the first 10,000 kilometers of charged electric driving “offset by accredited renewable energy producing zero emissions,” according to the company.
