Circleville City Schools Get Big Rebate from AEP Ohio

aep_ohioCircleville City, OH, schools have received a rebate of $135,962.74 from AEP Ohio for its energy efficiency efforts, according the Circleville Herald.

The rebate was determined by the amount of energy savings – 910,636 kWh – the district achieved. That, according to the story, is the equivalent of removing 132 vehicles from the road for a year or turning of 16,425 incandescent lamps.

AEP Ohio’s Energy Efficiency Program began in 2009. It has saved more than 2.2 billion kWh of electricity, which is equal to emissions from 334,263 vehicles, 179,872,537 gallons of gasoline or a year’s worth of electricity for 220,757 homes, the story says.

The Hesperia Unified School District in California has saved 31 percent in energy costs during the past three months. The district used $4.7 million in funding from California Prop 39 to help pay for the project, which cost $12.98 million.
