fiuFlorida International University has been the top performing university since the Florida State University System began tracking energy use in 2007. Last month, the SUS Energy Conservation Report said that the school achieved a score of 61.88 kBTU/per square foot during the 2014-15 school year. kBTU is a key performance indicator of efficiency used by the Energy Star system, according to the story.

The piece says that all buildings have individual electric meters (some with real-time power sensors); central utilities and chilled water loop and a building management system. New buildings have LEED certifications. There is ongoing recommissioning of key facilities and adoption of LEDs and replacement of fluorescent bulbs.
