Green Charge Providing Energy to Grossmont (CA) School District

green_chargeGreen Charge Networks has agreed on an energy storage project with the Grossmont Union High School District, which is in the eastern side of San Diego County, CA.

Green Charge, which calls itself the largest provider of commercial energy storage in the United States, will deploy 7.4 mWh energy storage capacity at 14 sites in nine locations in the district. The project is expected to save the district more than $6.4 million in utility costs during the life of the project, according to the press release. The company’s Power Efficiency Agreement (PEA) shared savings model means that the district will incur no charge for the project.

The Berryessa Union School District is making an $11 million investment in solar panels, while the Escondido Union School District has agreed to a 20 year power purchase agreement (PPA) with SunPower Corp. Both school districts are in California.
