Efficiency Project Complete in Meriden, CT

Connecticut FlagThe Meriden Enterprise Center in Meriden, CT, says that its rooftop solar array is fully installed.

The solar array is one element of a two-part project that will provide 215 KW and more than 250 kWh annually. The project was financed by Connecticut Green Bank’s C-PACE (Connecticut-Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy) program. The project also included windows, rooftop cooling units and a building management system (BMS).

The press release says that the facility, which is covers 430,000 square feet and offers warehouse, light industrial, office and “flex” space, is expected to save more than $4.7 million over the 20-year life of the term of the financing. The project cost almost $3 million. The building was constructed in 1884.

Connecticut, in large part due to the devastation caused by Superstorm Sandy, is at the forefront of microgrids and other onsite and off-grid approaches to energy.
