Evoqua Buys Self-Cleaning Water Filtration Company

Evoqua Neptune BensonEvoqua Water Technologies and its recently acquired Neptune Benson business has acquired VAF Filtration Systems, a screen filtration manufacturer based in Arvada, Colorado.

Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

VAF manufactures automatic self-cleaning water filters and control valves for a variety of industrial and municipal water applications. Markets include industrial water reuse, water and wastewater, cooling towers, seawater, river intake water, well water, groundwater re-injection, irrigation and more.

VAF’s premier product, the V-Series, is a self-cleaning screen filter capable of removing suspended solids from 1500 to 10 microns. A micron is one millionth of a meter. A single red blood cell is about 8 microns in diameter.

The acquisition pairs VAF’s self-cleaning, screen filtration systems with Neptune Benson’s media-based filters. The companies say VAF complements Neptune Benson’s existing product offerings and bolsters Neptune Benson’s and Evoqua’s offerings within industrial and municipal markets, allowing the company to offer filtrations solutions ranging from 1500 microns down to submicron filtration.

Last month Evoqua said it will supply its water treatment system to Washington County, Maryland, in a move that county officials say will save $16 million in upgrade costs.

Evoqua’s other municipal and industrial customers include the city of Paso Robles, California, Penn State University and the US Food & Drug Administration’s Arkansas Regional Laboratory in Jefferson, Arkansas.
