The Keystone Oaks School District in Pittsburgh and Schneider Electric have completed a $3.4 million infrastructure project at four district schools.
The schools had faced problems with their HVAC and control systems. Schneider was retained to upgrade those systems and install building automation systems. Now, the press release says, teachers can control temperatures in each classroom and wasted energy from the heating of unoccupied rooms can be avoided.
The project was partially funded through an energy savings performance contract (ESPC). The project is expected to reduce the district’s energy and maintenance costs by $106,000, which is 18 percent of the total budget.
Last month, the Burncoat High School in Worcester, MA, received a $248,849 grant for an LED upgrade. The grant came from the Green Communities, a Massachusetts state program.
