China’s Environmental Pollution Regs Boost US Clean Tech Companies’ Profits

smogChina’s new environmental pollution control laws have been a boon to US companies, which have found a new and growing market for everything from transportation emissions control technologies to wastewater treatment.

As the Chinese government tightens its environmental regulations for manufactures, US firms are now honing in on China’s growing volatile organic compound (VOC) abatement market, Plastics News reports.

Last month the California-based pollution abatement and energy services firm Ship and Shore Environmental (S&SE) co-hosted the 2016 VOC Abatement Technology Forum in Zhajianggang. The event focuses on expanding advanced VOC abatement technologies into China’s manufacturing markets.

S&SE also recently opened a manufacturing and engineering center located in Zhangjiagang, in collaboration with its China partner Zhangjiagang Aier Environmental Protection Engineering Co., Plastics News reports.

The Chinese market for clean technologies will likely increase as the country prepares to launch a China’s cap-and-trade set to launch in 2017, making China the biggest carbon market in the world.
