Ameresco Building Solar Facility in Sturbridge, MA

Massachusetts

Ameresco will construct a 2.4 MW solar facility in the town of Sturbridge, MA, according to the company.

The project is being built under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) that calls for half of the energy provided by the array to be used by the town in the form of metering credits. The other half, the press release says, will be contributed to the Community Solar Program. That program provides green power to local energy users.

The array, which will go online early next year, is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that are equivalent to 8,868 passenger vehicles and generate enough energy to power 4,433 homes.

In September, Ameresco said that it entered into an energy savings performance contract (ESPC) with the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons. Under terms of the contract, Ameresco will install energy and water conservation technology at the 776-acre Federal Correctional Complex in Butner, N.C. The contract is valued at $53.1 million.
