Danville, KY, is considering an energy project that would save about a half million dollars over the course of 20 years, according to The Advocate-Messenger.
The story says that the project would replace aging water meters; “rebalance” the HVAC systems and install LEDs in multiple buildings; deploy intelligent services from Trane and replace the HVAC system in the city’s Millennium Park.
The plans were generated by Harshaw Crane, which was retained last year. The plan calls for Danville to spend $13.15 million over 20 years on lease payments and support services. The city will save $13.22 million in energy and $467,743 in lowered capital costs. Ultimately, savings would be $534,477 after the 20-year term of the project. The precise rates of the bonds are the only factors that would change the overall figures, according to Harshaw Crane. The savings numbers are guaranteed by Trane, which would head up the work.
The Post — a news site serving Norton, Ohio — provided an update on the city’s energy upgrade. So far, engineers have audited city facilities and are in the process of upgrading energy saving elements. The project, which was approved last year, will cost $566,000. So far, lights in the city council chamber, the community center, the fire station and the service department have been replaced with LEDs. A changeover from electric to gas heat also is underway.
