Dear Reader,
It’s been awhile, and I have much to tell you, so I’ll jump right in. First, guess what? In 2022, we’re celebrating our 15th anniversary. Happy birthday to us! What started as a website offering a small handful of straight news stories each day has grown to a resource destination that goes far beyond daily articles — as you know, we now offer webinars, events, ebooks, Q&As, awards and honoree programs, and more. In celebration of our success, we’ll be featuring regular “throwback” articles, republishing some of our earliest news stories so you can see what was happening in the space 15 long (though it seems so short!) years ago.
I wanted to thank you all for an amazing year as business boomed. You engaged with us in record numbers: our engagement on social channels grew 23% in 2021 and an astonishing 30% over the last two years. If you’re not already joining the conversation, check us out on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and on our LinkedIn Environment+Energy Leader Network.
In 2021, we also held our second virtual Solutions Summit (expanded to two days after the success of year one!) with stellar sessions from superstars at companies like General Motors, MasterCard, PepsiCo, IBM, Brooks Running, Jackson Family Wines, and many others. More than 1,200 of you tuned in. It was such a success that we’ve added two more to our schedule in 2022 (more on that in a moment).
Other great news? I’ve added to my team. Longtime journalist Emily Holbrook has been joined by David Worford and Austin Tannenbaum, both of whom have many years of experience covering our industry and who are now busy providing news and insight on a daily basis for E+E Leader readers.

Waiting in the wings is Ken Silverstein, who joins us in February to write in-depth articles and interviews. Ken, who has covered energy and public policy for more than two decades, has been a regular contributor to Forbes as well as dozens of others. He will also moderate our webinars and panel discussions during our upcoming virtual events.
With these additions, we’re boosting our editorial coverage; our newsletter will become a daily to make sure you’re notified of the news that matters as soon as it happens.
Hot Stuff for the New Year
Our Virtual Energy Management Summit, taking place on February 2, 2022, will cover topics like onsite power and storage, energy procurement and efficiency, energy management and building systems, retrofits, and more. The Summit will feature speakers from organizations like Google, Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena, Kimberly-Clark, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the City University of New York, among others. Our sponsors, OneTrust ESG, CPower and Urjanet, will add their expertise.
We’ll also feature our third annual virtual Solutions Summit in July. Stay tuned in coming months for details on dates, times and sessions.
Don’t forget to submit for the E+E Leader Awards. I won’t go into details here (you’re familiar with them by now!), but as a reminder: Early Bird submissions close 12/31/2021, and the final submission deadline is 2/28/2022.
Ebooks and webinars are ramping up more than ever in the New Year, with too many to mention here. So keep an eye on our resource hub for updates because you won’t want to miss any of that informative content. You’ll learn — from a variety of experts in the field — how to face and solve your keenest environmental and energy management challenges, so stay tuned.
That’s more than enough, for now. I hope you’ll enjoy some pleasant time off over the next couple of weeks, and that you’ll be as excited as we are about getting back to work in the New Year, armed with great ideas, inspirations and motivation. Let’s talk soon!

PS: Please note that, as always, we’ll be taking the week between Christmas and New Year’s off so my editorial team can take a much needed break. We’ll be back on January 3, raring to dive into 2022.
