A good product for helping companies reduce miles traveled as well as offsetting emissions from employee travel. The real-time system monitors three concepts: measure, reduce, and neutralize. It has great possibility.
The WeNowBox is a small plug-in adapter for cars that works with a dedicated app to change driving habits and lower fuel consumption. The patent-pending system measures energy consumption, provides coaching for drivers to help them reduce their fuel consumption, and neutralizes carbon dioxide as it is emitted through offsetting.
WeNow features a real-time certification system for zero net carbon cars. Coaching services improve climate awareness and help drivers reduce their fuel consumption. The device and app make it possible to monitor fuel efficiency and motivate a community of drivers with gaming initiatives safely with a choice of environmental projects. Scientific fuel-reduction measurements take into account driver behavior and mobility contexts.
The automotive market is struggling to address emissions and aggregate pollution levels. With a smart device and the WeNow mobile application, the system accurately measures energy consumption, provides tips to help drivers reduce their fuel consumption between 5 to 15%. A carbon offsetting system neutralizes carbon dioxide emitted during driving in real time through the WeNow hardware and software, the company says.
Awareness of the importance of corporate social responsibility has been growing over the last 10 years and a number of companies have become role models. However, many companies need to move from traditional corporate social responsibility programs to a more strategic ones, and quantify and design metrics for measuring their impacts, WeNow says. Their system helps measure, reduce, and neutralize carbon dioxide emissions in a certifiable manner for individual cars, company cars, and fleets.
Beta testing in 2015 demonstrated the accuracy of the system’s fuel consumption measurement and its efficiency improvement monitoring in the context of mobility and drivers. In 2016, a thousand WeNowBox devices were produced with another 200,000 on order. The company’s app also became available on iTunes. A version of the app requested by Microsoft is also in development.
The company says it is in the process of signing partnership agreements with five large companies in France and in five other European countries. It has two partnerships with insurers for a B2B2C strategy, and a partnership with the French environmental Nicolas Hulot Foundation to promote the WeNow initiative. In Europe, WeNow is co-developing strategy with key global companies in the voluntary carbon credits market.
