Illinois Wind Turbines Slated to Add 20% to Districtwide Assessed Value and $35 Million in New Taxes

Though some Illinois residents first balked at the idea of wind turbines being erected in their community, the renewable energy project has proved fruitful for schools throughout the district. For Bureau Valley School District, a recent wind energy project resulted in a substantial increase in the district tax base, according to the News Tribune.

California School District Implements Energy Efficiency Measures, Will Save $4.3 Million in Utility Costs Over 15 Years

Ameresco, Inc., an energy efficiency and renewable energy company, recently announced that it has completed an energy efficiency project with Lynwood Unified School District in Lynwood, California. The energy efficiency measures will save the district $4.3 million in utility costs over the next 15 years.

Indiana School District Implementing Solar Technology to Power 3 Schools

An Indiana school district recently announced a partnership to bring renewable energy to the school district in the form of ground mount solar farms. Two solar arrays comprised of 4,800 panels will power three of the district’s schools. Hamilton Southeastern Schools partnered with Ameresco for the two solar wagons and programming to incorporate sustainability education into its curriculum.

Massachusetts Town Turns Closed Landfill into Solar Energy Generation Station

Ameresco, Inc., an energy efficiency and renewable energy company, today announced that it has partnered with the Town of Westport, Massachusetts to install a 622 KW-dc ground-mounted solar panel system at Westport’s closed landfill. Ameresco will be responsible for the design, construction, operations and maintenance of the solar farm, at its own expense.
